22/11/2023 Bookshop Open. Book 14
25/11/2020 I've finally purchased a decent mouse, the Corsair M65 Elite.
06/09/2020 I keep having to look this up... to change the name of the network on a Windows 10 PC - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles
I'm still working from home. Kids go back to school tomorrow. Infection rates are on the rise, sadly. Will see what happens over the next couple of weeks.
12/04/2020 It has been a few weeks now since the lockdown has been in effect due to the Coronavirus. There are noticeable changes to everyday life now.
The're queuing outside the local coop and the butcher. People are standing a couple of metres apart. Some people wear masks. The stock levels in the Coop is still disrupted - Pasta is near impossible to get hold of. Loo rolls are in short supply. Liquid soap is out of stock. Cashiers now stand behind plastic screens, and we are encouraged to use the self service checkouts and pay with card or contactless payments. Lots of people are now walking the block to get exercise. There are lots more bicycles on the roads. I have walked the entire block and not seen a car go past. The roads are nearly entirely empty. The park playground and skate ramp are closed. Emily and Ollie are using the internet to pick up their homework and class work. Schools are still closed. Fuel prices have plummeted. Tesco are selling unleaded for £1.07. It's normally at £1.29. Scouts is cancelled, leisure centres are closed. Pubs and restaurants are closed. Couriers are visiting nearly every day though - I had 3 one day! My company is struggling. I had to agree to a temporary 20% drop in salary for 3 months in the hope the company can ride this out. Some people have been forced on furlough with a 20% salary drop. My Mum and Dad are reliant on food deliveries, but they can't get a slot because everyone is trying to do the same, so I am visiting them weekly to drop off food parcels. I'm not able to go inside of course, I talk to them briefly through a window.
There are daily news briefings from the Prime Minister, and the Queen addressed the nation last week. 10,000 people in our country have now died. The Excel Centre in London has been converted into a temporary hospital, called NHS Nightingale. The police now have the ability to issue fines to people if they refuse to go home if caught outside unnecessarily. They're trying to do this with a light touch, but there have been some police that have been criticised for being heavy handed.
All sports have been cancelled - No Formula 1, football, rugby Wimbledon?
All flights are cancelled, and we don't know if we are going to get to America this year. I am chatting to Kate over FaceTime every day.
I've been keeping myself busy doing DIY. Ollie's room looks good and he has just got a new mattress. I've now run out of wood and paint. I've sealed my garage roof and porch roof, and am repairing my garden furniture. I have books and playstation 3 and 4 games to play, along with battlefield 1 that I'm working through on the PC, but it's getting a little dull now. The weather is now hot, and it's delightful to be outdoors, which raises my spirits. Long may that at least continue.
22/03/2020 Coronavirus map
20/03/2020 Today marks the first day of me working from home due to the Coronavirus. Boris Johnson has just announced at is 5pm address to the nation that all bars, clubs, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, and leisure centres will close. The schools are now closed. There are no GCSE exams for Emily, and both children will be doing their school lessons online. Mum and Dad have already been self isolating. It's incomprehensible to think that this could go on for months. The Chancellor has announced a fund to ensure all workers continue to be paid if their employer is on the brink of bankruptcy
20/03/2020 I've had so much trouble getting Windows 10 updates installed, however after much searching, the utility that tells you what's wrong is called SetupDiag from Microsoft.
31/01/2020 If the yellow ring is flashing on alexa, it could be a message or a notification. If you say, "What did I miss", you get them all
We leave the EU tonight at 11pm.
30/12/2019 Refreshed the site. I know it looks the same, but it's all been hand coded so it's leaner and I can update it from anywhere. I've created a few sections that cover my hobbies so I can access them for easy reference. My hope is that these will expand, but there's only so many hours to do things, I'm not sure it will actually happen, but you never know.
17/12/12 Wow! 4 years since an update. I'm trying to update this using SeaMonkey. The site needs a little tidyup as some of the sites listed no longer exist! I'm frankly more supprised that so many of them do still work. Anyway, here are the ones that have gone...

14/12/00 Well, I've been away for a while. Freeserve are to launch "Freetime", or something like that. Based on bandwidth, not time spent on line, should be the end of connection nightmares.

Couple of news links www.betanews.com and www.theregister.co.uk

26/10/00 Cool! Just read this article, saying that the playstation 3 will be launched in 5 years time and will be 1000 times more powerful than the PS2.
10/10/00 God. It just goes from bad to worse. To connect to Freeserve is a nightmare. DO NOT JOIN YET, until they have sorted out all their issues. I'm even considering AOL!!!! check out www.ispreview.co.uk
27/9/00 New web site at www.vanloock.freeserve.co.uk

It will be there once I find time to publish all this stuff again.

Interesting link - Britney Spears guide to Semiconuductor Physics

11/9/00 Cool queues at petrol stations. I hope this finally does it.
I've signed up with Freeserve unlimited call time.
I wonder if lineone have done something to upset getright. it repeatedly reports password is incorrect when reconnecting.
03/9/00 Well, I'm back from holiday now. Had a very relaxing time in Bude, Cornwall.

I don't have much news at the moment. I bought a fishing rod for my dreamcast. It's cool. I've reactivated my Freeserve account, because they are better than Line One.

9/8/00 So, two "boycott the pumps" days have passed, and so many people have said "whats the point, we have to buy petrol at some point" etc. It's very British. Lets not complain... Lets give up now... The campaign is still on, recommencing on the 14th, but boycotting just BP. See the link further down this page to learn why.
31/7/00 I've run out of web space!!! Line one only offer 10MB. I'm going to have to delete some stuff. Still I'm not going to ever use them again after they have pulled the free internet access. I have zero respect for this company.

I've been TRYING to update my site. Check out  KTurn.com Web File Storage. They give you 125MB of space, plus a public area! I've got a karaoke page up now. It's all a bit slap-dash, as I havn't the time to make it tidy, still, may find the time one day.

20/7/00 Went to my Family Reunion on the 16th. I have loads of photos and will be posting them very soon (honestly Jane, would I lie to to you!) I also have a new scanner, an Epson perfection 610 usb. Its bloody great! so fast. Can't fault it.
9/7/00 Added - DreamCast stuff in the Games section, plus link to Jodi.org.
I found this site some time ago, but forgot the name. Lets just say it's weird.
3/7/00 Check out my Lightsaber Had a bit of fun with Adobe Photoshop and Premiere :o)
1/7/00 What do you know - a new site name. Check out www.halebop.com. It will check your Emails for you and send a summary to your phone. How Cool.

I've tried to restructure the links section, It will improve as time goes on. I just can't cope with all the new links that I keep finding!
